Wedding Ready Skin

By Catherine Ruffels

Your wedding is the day you have been waiting for your whole life, and now that you have found someone to spend it with, it’s time to get down to the nitty-gritty. As you prepare for this exciting time in your life, don’t forget about your skin. Although there may be a team of people planning your wedding ceremony and reception (most likely there is), I think it’s worth taking a look at how you can get the best out of your skin prior to that grand day.

When should I start?

The best time to start your wedding skin care is the day you get engaged. But if you’re not planning on getting married for a few years, that’s okay! Just remember that great skin takes time and commitment, so don’t wait until the week before to start taking care of your skin.

1 year before the wedding skin preparation

There is a lot of work to do for your wedding day, so give yourself plenty of time to plan and execute.

The first thing you should do is set up an appointment with a skin therapist. They will be able to tell you if there are any conditions that need to be addressed prior to your wedding day. Here at All About You skin clinic we can do a thorough skin consultation with you using our state of the art skin analyser, so we can determine your skin issues and skin goals, this way all your skin concerns can be dealt with in advance so that they won’t affect your special day.

We can also help you start with a skincare routine that will perfectly suit your skin and help you achieve your skin goals.

Remember that no matter how much preparation you do, there is no way to completely eliminate all signs of aging from your skin. The best thing that you can do is minimise them as much as possible through anti aging treatments. You can also look into injectable options, this way your skin has plenty of time to recover.

9 Months Before your wedding

Schedule for regular facials, this is the perfect time for deep cleaning. You need to get rid of the dead skin cells and dirt that has accumulated in your skin. This way your skin will be able to absorb products better. Best treatments for you are the following:

Microdermabrasion uses a tiny diamond tip to gently buff away dead skin cells, unclogging pores and revealing your natural glow.

Dermaplaning is another popular treatment that involves using a scalpel to remove dead skin cells from the face. This can help reduce acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles.

Both of these treatments are painless and quick—and they’ll leave your complexion looking radiant

Its also best to look for a skin clinic that has a relaxing vibe as you will be visiting more often.

At All About You we do not only take care of your skin but your whole well being. We can guide you with the facial treatments you need as well as help you in practicing self love and self care.

6 Months Before Your Wedding

Consider enzyme peels to help your skin look smoother and even out any sun damage or acne scars. You can see results after a series of treatments, but you don’t have to commit to multiple sessions right away.

5 Months Before your wedding

Swap your vino to green juice. Wine can be fun and help ease stress but too much can dehydrate your skin, break capillaries, and dull your radiance. Green juice can help stimulate lymphatic system, drain out puffiness and make you glow from inside.

4 Months Before Your Wedding

Start using a retinol product in your daily routine if you haven’t already. Use them every night before bed for two weeks, then every other night for two weeks more. They will make your skin look brighter and smoother in no time. Since retinol is a medical grade ingredient it’s best that  you are well guided in using products with this ingredient. When you book an appointment with us and we can help you incorporate this to your skincare routine, suggest products with retinol.

3 Months Before Your Wedding

Address uneven skin, hyperpigmentation, dark spots and freckles  due to excessive exposure to sunlight, environmental factors, hormones, injuries, medications, acne and your skin type. Laser treatments can help skin renew itself with fresh healthy regenerated cells, leaving the skin with an even tone and complexion. This treatment produces excellent results for the face, hands and décolletage.

2 Months Before Your Wedding

Do a final touchup for injectables or your semi permanent makeup. This way you can still have time to adjust and correct to make them look perfect on your big day.

1 month Before your wedding

Start exfoliating weekly with an enzyme peel or scrub. We love Ocosmedics Fruit Peel Mask and All About You Pink Clay Scrub because it gets rid of dead skin cells without being too harsh or drying out your face too much — it’s just right!

Polish and refine skin texture through Laser Facials, the laser safely heats the layers of the skin stimulating collagen production, reducing redness, refining skin texture and tone while boosting overall glow factor. This innovative treatment can address many concerns in one appointment.

2 weeks out

In the two weeks leading up to your wedding, it’s important to make sure that you’re taking care of your skin and hair, not only your face.

Start scrubbing your skin with an exfoliating body wash or a sugar scrub. This will get rid of dead skin and keep your skin smooth for the wedding day.

To moisturize, use body oils or moisturizers on your arms, legs and feet. I recommend doing this 3 times a day for two weeks before your wedding.

If you have any dry patches on your body (like elbows), use an exfoliating mitt to rub them away.

You should also consider deep conditioning your hair. This will help make sure that it stays silky smooth and soft.

1 week before

Schedule a relaxing facial that’s gentle and nourishing like our It’s All About You Facial with LED Light therapy.

This treatment is designed to take you on a sensory journey with our very own Australian botanical skincare, made to nourish and nurture your skin back to health, with essential vitamins and nutrients. We will create your mask and other treats in-front of your very eyes! We tailor the treatment utilising a combination of exfoliation, enzymes and masks to make sure your skin is looking its absolute best! A soothing massage is included to ensure you leave feeling totally revitalized! You should also hydrate by drinking plenty of water. Avoid inflammation by eating healthy. And make sure you get a good amount of beauty sleep to allow your skin to heal.

Do not tan or experiment on anything at this point. You should be glowing and ready to look and feel your best on  your big day! Lastly, relax, take a bath, book a massage and meditate.
